Discussion Items
- Bluff St. Traffic
- Jake reported that speed board was placed in front of his Bluff St. house. Improved surface seems to have caused drivers to increase speed. Shiva took his concerns seriously. Jake noticed difference in noise and speed. Not a long term solution. Traffic has picked up since the board went away. Shiva has said that they placed police cars. Those ticketed were our own neighbors.
- Additional Comments: Ridge and Franklin seem to be bigger headaches for the city. Shiva is excited about neighborhood sign but open to other ideas too. Signs are lots of process and cost around 10k. Shiva won’t do stop sign because that’s not how a connecting street works. Are there are traffic calming initiatives that other urban area have used successfully?
- Suggestions for how to address included a flashing yellow light was , a bump out near Midvale that would let people know that drivers were in a neighborhood and not a passthru, a stop sign at the top of ridge street, and painting on the road.
- Food Carts
- Continue to reach out to Let’s Eat Out, without a response. Jason had suggested last Wednesday of June, July and August. Too late to consider June, but will continue to try to contact organization about a list of carts we might choose from for July and August.Tasks – None suggested.
- RBNA Tshirts
- Should order 24. 18 people committed would cover cost with shirts priced at 9/ea.Tasks – None suggested.
- Work Project (before the annual party)
- Suggested that this year we work on the Le Chateau path.Tasks: Betty will check with Le Chateau about their willingness to letting us clean that up path.

Notes from Parks Meeting
Date: Monday, June 13, 2015 – 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Where: First Baptist Church, 518 N. Franklin Avenue
(25 attending)
Kate Kane (parks department) runs thru how we got to this point, showing older maps and talking about the process used by the working group.
CORP worked with parks department after the Whole Foods meeting to make corrections discussed by some at that meeting via email back and forth.
REI workday happened on May 28th. Several routes discussed were terminated and brushed over. Limited to areas where there were no voiced issues during meetings.
There are still some proposed sections to discuss. Signage will be used to let pedestrians know they were headed into biking area.
Trails for service route will be groomed to accommodate parks and emergency vehicles.
No ranger staff to enforce any of this. Individuals will use at their own best judgement re: risk and how to use the trails and the park.
Kiosk or signboard will have image of final map.
Would like to put together a “friends of group. Future changes would go thu this group. Changes to trails will be submitted by February each year.
Updated map can be found on the parks department website.
Going forward:
- Request for better signage for meetings like this
- Wording on signage tbd
- designate additional n/s trail for mixed use
- 6 month follow up meeting to talk about how the changes are working/not working
